About

Hello, I’m Laynie!

I am a lifestyle portrait & wedding photographer based out of Minnesota.

My passion for photography began when I found out I was pregnant with my daughter. I made myself a promise to buy a camera and learn how to use it. It turns out that was the best choice I ever made, because it filled a creative void in my life I never really knew I was missing. I officially started my business in 2016 and it has been a dream come true. I love being able to tell the stories of my clients. Whether its a fall family session, a graduating senior, bringing your new baby home, or your wedding day, I get to stop time and preserve those memories for years to come.

So what do you say? Are you ready to make the investment for you and your family? Do you have some other questions? That's ok! Keep scrolling down to see some FAQ and see if I have answered yours. Or, lets get together and chat! Click on the contact tab and send me a message! I look forward to working with you!

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

So the time has come and you’re ready to book your session but you still have some questions for me. That’s no problem! Below I have listed some of questions that I get often for all different types of sessions. If your question isn’t answered below you have a couple options; head over to the contact tab and send me a message, email me directly, or give me a call (I actually still like to talk on the phone).

“How do you describe your photography style?"

One word comes to mind, Natural. I always have believed less is more and that shows through in my work. I try to steer clear of very posed and stuffy images and instead capture the real you. I don’t use very many props, other than maybe a blanket, but if you have something you want to incorporate into your session, bring it along! Natural light is my favorite and I also love finding the perfect location for your session. Most importantly, I want you to be comfortable because that shows in your session. I know how to get you to laugh so your genuine smiles shines through and I will do just about anything (within reason of course) to get the perfect shot!

“Where are you located and how far in advance should we book?"

I live in the southwest area of the Twin Cities but I will travel just about anywhere! If you’re local to me I can usually get something schedule within a week. If I need to travel, the more time the better but I am always going to try and make it work!

-Some sessions may require a travel fee-

How long do sessions last?

Depending on which session you choose they last anywhere from 45 minutes to 2 hours. Wedding packages start at 6 hours and can go up to 10 or more! I work quickly and efficiently but I don’t like to put an exact time on sessions. I mean if I am having fun and so are you I why should we stop?

"Do you use Photoshop?"

The short answer: yes. Now here is the long answer: I take great pride in making your images look great in my camera. Sure I may need to tweak something here or there, but my ultimate goal at every session is to not have to do much editing at all. If you have a zit on your forehead that appeared just for pictures, YES I will make it disappear. If you ask me to make you a size 2 when you aren't, NO I will not. I will however, use strategic posing techniques to ensure you look FABULOUS!

"Do you include an engagement session for all wedding packages?"

Absolutely! The engagement session is important because it acts as a trial run for your wedding day.We use this time to talk about life, wedding stuff, and just hang out and get to know each other. As I have stated before, my main focus is making sure you are comfortable so I am able to capture you as a couple in genuine form.

"Do you shoot with a second shooter for weddings?"

Always. Every wedding collection I offer includes a second shooter and it's built into the initial cost. I started out as a second shooter and I think they are such a crucial part of making sure your day is captured to the fullest potential. Because no one can be in two places at once, its important to have someone else that can get those alternate angles and perspectives on all those special moments.

"Can I see the other images that weren't included in the gallery?"

No. And here is why. I take LOTS of pictures during every session to get that perfect shot. I choose different poses and locations and sometimes some are better than others. I do not release any additional, unedited or untouched (RAW) images. There is no reason to include an image in an unflattering angle or a shot that is not in focus. I always include the BEST images from your session. Promise.

"What is your turnaround time and when is payment due?"

Portrait sessions can take anywhere from 1-2 weeks and weddings can take 4-6 weeks. I always get a sneak peek out within the first couple days after your session. Completed galleries are delivered through an online gallery and are easy to download!

Payment for all portrait sessions is due no later than the day of your session. Wedding payment is a little different and will be discussed upon signing the contract.

"What should we wear?"

Outfit choices are very important! In my opinion, they help to complete the image. First off be comfortable! It's no fun taking pictures in outfits that you aren’t comfortable in and are constantly needing adjustments. Don't worry about matching, focus on complimenting each other. Keep in mind the climate and location of your session too! I am more than happy to help style your session so send me pictures and tell me your ideas, and I will make sure you look great!
